This is an EZVIZ CB1 review video. If you need a simple and easy to use indoor security camera, CB1 could be the one you are looking for.

In this video, I will unbox, show how to set up the security camera and explain its features and specifications.

This video has been broken into these sections so that you can quickly find the information you need. If you find this video informative, follow this channel to get future updates on technology and gadgets related videos.

This is the product box for EZVIZ CB1.

At the front is a picture of an EZVIZ battery camera and some details.

At the side, some features are explained.

At the back, the security camera model CS-CB1 is printed.

On the other side, all the main features are mentioned.

Now, let’s open this box and see the contents.

These are the items included in the box.

The CB1 indoor security camera.

The USB Type-C power cable for charging the camera.

Two foam stickers for camera mounting.

One mounting metal plate with 5mm diameter holes.

Quick Start Guide with QR code which contains the full user guide in PDF format and the ID for this particular camera.

Let’s peel off this protective sticker and check the camera’s features.

This is the camera lens, on the left is the LED indicator light, on the right is the phototransistor and the brand name EZVIZ is printed in the center.

At the back is the loudspeaker, micro SD card slot, USB-C charging port, the tiny hole here is the microphone and the button for power or reset.

The base of the camera is magnetic so it can stick on metal objects such as frames or pillars.

If you screw this metal plate to a wall, you can stick the camera to it easily.

This CB1 camera can be placed on a flat surface like this, for example on a table or shelf.

If you are going to place this on a wall, screw this metal plate to a wall and stick the magnetic base to it.

When placed on a wall, you can adjust the camera position by gently pushing or turning it.

I do wish that they had a tightening mechanism here as repeated adjustments can loosen the joint.

This camera has two options of recording footage, one is to microSD card and another to EZVIZ CloudPlay Storage. The cloud storage option is a paid subscription plan available for certain countries. For this test, I am going for the microSD card option which means the camera footage is stored locally in the camera.

MicroSD card needs to be purchased separately and the CB1 camera supports up to 512GB. Insert the microSD card into the camera.

Using the USB cable, I am leaving the CB1 camera to charge its batteries. Power adapter is not included so you will need to get one separately or use the one from your mobile phone.

Connect the phone to Wi-Fi and install the EZVIZ app from Google Play or App Store.

Launch the EZVIZ app and register an EZVIZ user account. Since I have already registered for previous cameras, I can go straight to the app interface.

If the camera is in a shutdown state, press the power button once to power on.

Before adding any device, make sure to check for updates and the EZVIZ app is the latest version.

To add the CB1 camera to the EZVIZ app, tap the + on the upper-right corner and select ‘Scan QR Code’.

Scan the QR Code on the Quick Start Guide or the base of the camera.

The app will search for device information and check if the camera is powered on. Click ‘Next’.

Read the instructions and click ‘Next’.

Check if the camera indicator light is flashing blue.

Select ‘Indicator Flashes Blue’ and click ‘Next’.

To configure Wi-Fi, click on ‘Open Location Permission’.

This should select your current Wi-Fi details but you can also change it if you want.

Click ‘Next’ and allow the device to connect with EZVIZ.

Here, you can change the device name or give it a new name. Click ‘Next’.

Let the system complete the configuration.

Once configuration is complete, you will see a live view from the camera. Click ‘Next’.

The battery status is showing as charging.

In the working mode, there are five options to choose from.

To have continuous video recording, plug into the power source and choose ‘Power Plugged-in’ mode.

For now, I am leaving it to the default ‘Power Saving’ mode. Click ‘Next Step’.

Here, you can adjust the detection sensitivity by increasing or decreasing the value. Click ‘Start Debugging’ to test the detection sensitivity.

I’m skipping this to the next step.

With this new camera, you get 7 days or 30 days free trial options for CloudPlay online video storage.

Since I’m only using this for testing purposes, I’m skipping the free trial subscription.

Once completed, the new camera will appear in the app’s Devices tab.

When the camera view is clicked, a pop up asks to initialize the SD card before recording can be stored. Click on ‘Initialize’.

Select the uninitialized storage medium.

Click on the ‘Initialize’ button.

Click ‘OK’ to continue.

The formatting of storage media for the camera may take some time.

Once completed successfully, the SD Card status becomes ‘In Use’.

The CB1 camera will now start recording video footage in the local SD Card.

If there is a new firmware version, you may get a Device Auto Upgrade pop up and it will recommend you to enable the auto upgrade option.

Click ‘Go to set’.

Enable the ‘Device Auto Upgrade’ toggle and then you have four timing options of when the auto upgrade should be performed.

The app now asks to sync layout style and you can choose your preference.

If you see the small animated arrow icon on the camera preview, it indicates that there is a firmware update. Click on it and then select ‘Upgrade firmware version’. This shows the current and the new version of the firmware.

Click on ‘Update Now’ and let the update process to complete.

The camera will restart and will be running the latest firmware.

EZVIZ CB1 records video and audio with FullHD resolution of 1920×1080.

The camera works with a minimum illumination of 0.1 Lux and the night vision is up to 5m or 16ft.

The storage of video footage can be done locally on a microSD card or online via EZVIZ CloudPlay subscription.

The battery capacity is 1600mA and the camera can also be powered continuously via USB-C charging port.

The CB1 supports smart human motion detection, customized alert area and two way talk.

The camera with the base is pretty compact and weighs 133g.

This camera is not weatherproof and is intended to be used indoors. You can use it outdoors as long as it is undercover and protected from rain and weather conditions.

Being a battery operated camera allows you to place the security camera nearly anywhere you like. These are just some examples of places that you can place the camera.

Let’s place this camera indoors and test its detection and footage. My door frames are made of metal so I’m going to stick the camera base to the door frame and point to another door by adjusting the camera angle.

This is the video footage quality when it is recorded in daytime indoor conditions when facing bright sunlight from outside.

Despite facing bright light, the camera captures reasonable quality footage with the face seen clearly.

This is the video footage quality when it is recorded in darkness where the IR night vision is activated automatically.

Night vision allows the camera to record activity in black and white footage.

Now, let’s talk about the pros of the CB1 security camera.

This camera is very easy to set up and use as the steps I have shown you earlier in the video.

Being a battery operated camera with a magnetic base, the camera can be placed just about anywhere you can think of.

IR night vision allows the camera to record video in dark environments and produces reasonably good footage.

Footage can be stored in a local microSD card without any subscription fee.

It has functions such as smart human detection, customized area alert and two-way talking function.

Now, let’s talk about the cons of the CB1 security camera.

The recorded video frame rate is only 15 fps and that can record moving objects, however very fast moving objects may appear blurry.

On the day of me testing this camera inside the garage, the temperature exceeded 40°C which is close to the camera’s maximum operating temperature of 45°C. This could have affected the detection sensitivity as it missed some motion detection events.

Overall, EZVIZ CB1 is an easy to use and convenient tool to add on to your home or office security. The portability makes this indoor camera very useful in various situations and environments.
