Today we are going to check out SuperBOX S2 Pro which is an Android IPTV smart media player box that allows you to watch thousands of live TV channels and movies. In this video, I am going to unbox this product, set it up and test this streaming solution device.
This is the SuperBOX S2 Pro with the picture of the device in front of the box. Some features are mentioned on one side. Nothing at the back.
On this side, the website addresses for more information and manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $699. Honestly, I think this suggested price is too high. Thankfully, this product is being sold for a much cheaper price online.
Now let’s open this box and check what’s included.
These are everything from the box.
The SuperBOX S2 Pro smart media player.
An infrared remote control.
Power adaptor.
HDMI cable.
And a user guide.
There are just a few pages of information in this user guide.
This SuperBOX S2 Pro smart media player runs on Android 9 operating system.
It has a quad-core ARM Cortex TM A53 processor. The graphic processing is a quad-core Mali-T720 MP2 @ 600MHz.
SuperBOX S2 Pro has a memory of 2GB DDR3 and internal storage of 16GB EMMC. 16GB of internal storage is quite low in my opinion, but let’s test this box and see what it can do.
At the top of the box is the SuperBOX name and logo. In the front, there is the display screen and the model name ‘S2PRO’ printed on the corner.
At the side, there is an SD or MMC card reader slot. These are the USB3.0 and the USB2.0 ports.
There is a tiny hole called ‘RESTORE’ that can be used to reset this smart TV box. And a line of holes for ventilation.
At the back, there are 2 antennas to provide better connection using WiFi. This is the DC port for the power adaptor cable. This is the IR port, AV port, HDMI port, LAN network port and SPDIF.
On the other side, these are ventilation holes.
This box supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2.4GHz/5.0GHz 2T2R. Generally this is good enough for an uninterrupted streaming experience.
LAN network ethernet port allows you to connect RJ45 network cable directly from this TV box to a modem or router. This allows better internet connection for a smoother streaming experience.
This is the SuperBOX S2 Pro remote control that looks pretty standard. It has buttons like ‘Cursor’, ‘Menu’, ‘Search’ and ‘Favorite’.
I am going to test this smart TV box in a room. I have a small TV and since the modem is quite far away, I will connect using Wi-Fi.
Connect the HDMI cable from the SuperBOX S2 Pro to the TV.
Turn on the TV and make sure you have changed to the correct HDMI source. Connect the power adaptor to the smart TV box and let the device boot.
The first thing that you see once it loads is the Disclaimer Notice.
According to this, SuperBOX is an empty and open entertainment system and it is your responsibility to install apps or softwares.
In this video, I will show you the apps that are available in the App Store that give you more than 1000 TV channels and thousands more movies.
Click on ‘Agree’ to proceed and it will go to Step 2. In this step, you can resize the display edges to fit your TV or monitor. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to resize until it fits your screen.
Click on ‘Next’ to proceed to Step 3. Here, you can choose your internet connection method of Wi-Fi or ethernet.
Under Wi-Fi, it will scan for all the available connections and display in a list. Select your Wi-Fi network name and enter it’s password. Once the password is entered, click on ‘Connect’. Wi-Fi is now connected.
Select ‘Finish’ and you will see the SuperBOX home screen.
That’s all you need to do to get this box up and running. Very easy steps.
The Home screen has a few tiles icons; Live TV, VOD, Playback, Favorites, App Store, Browser and 6 empty tiles where you can add your own shortcut links.
At the bottom, there are icons and the first one is the settings for this Android operating system.
The second icon is the Folder option that allows you to access internal storage or connected storage devices to access media files for playback.
The third icon is the cleaning and optimization tool to keep your device clean and fast.
The fourth icon loads an internet speed test and shows you the current speed of your connection.
The fifth icon allows you to uninstall any apps that you have installed previously. Currently I don’t have anything installed yet.
The sixth icon shows you all the methods for you to get support in regards to your SuperBOX TV. You can scan the QR codes or use the IDs or number directly.
If you go to Live TV, there isn’t any app on it as this is an empty box. To use this box, you will need to install apps.
Select App Store. Select APP Store icon.
There is a Disclaimer Notice for you to read before you proceed. Click on ‘OK’ and the APP STORE lists all the available apps.
Select and install Blue VOD which is the movies app.
Go back to the Home screen. Select VOD tile. Select ADD and select the newly installed Blue VOD app to be added as a shortcut.
You can now launch and use the app.
The first time you launch Blue VOD app, it may ask you to set a parental password. Type your parental password and click ‘SAVE’.
You will see the Home screen of the movie app.
You can navigate through Recommended, Newest, Movies, TV Series and Settings.
You can also search for movies using the on-screen keyboard.
Under the Movies tab, you can find movies according to genre.
You can find New Releases, Action, Adventure, Animation, Biography, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family, Fantasy and so on.
Now I am going to install another app.
Go to the App Store. Select ‘Blue TV’ and install it.
Go back to the Home screen.
Select LIVE TV tile. Select ADD and select the newly installed Blue TV app to be added as a shortcut.
You can now launch and use the app.
It starts playing the first TV channel on the list.
Press the ‘OK’ button on the remote control to view the TV channel guide.
Now let’s scroll and see how many channels there are.
That’s 1340 channels included at the time of my test!
I know I will never need that many channels but I can pick some and place them in my favorites list.
You can also install other apps like Hulu from the App Store.
To uninstall an app, click the bin icon and select the app to be uninstalled.
You can add a shortcut link to an app by selecting an Add tile on the Home screen. Then, select the app that you want to add. You can repeat the same for other tiles shortcuts.
At the top, you can toggle between ‘Home’ screen and ‘Apps’ screen.
If you would like to install more apps, you can launch Google Play and login with your Google account to get your favorite apps.
I love the simple and easy to use interface of SuperBOX S2 Pro.
Setting it up is very easy as well. All you need to do is turn it on, connect it to the internet and install the apps you need.
